Access Services Transition

The broad transition plan for Shared Bib implementation is available here.
While Aleph is the "back-end" system for your library services, patrons will be impacted in multiple ways by the transition to Shared Bib. After much testing and refinement, it looks like all Aleph-related functionality will be "down" for about 5 1/2 days. Specific dates are below, but you may want to make your patrons aware of this if you feel they will have questions.
Throughout:
- Practice / revise workflows as needed in Shared Bib TEST environment
- Once Aleph Shared Bib Production client available, download and configure for printing

- Table Changes Freeze begins
Friday, June 15, 2012
- Last day to place NEW UBorrow requests in Mango
Week of June 18-June 22
- Training sessions via Elluminate will be scheduled to address transition questions such as offline circulation, printing setup
Thursday, June 21 2012:
- Final bill/fine export for libraries until July 2
Friday, June 22:
- Final processing of returns until June 28
- Due Dates updated to July 2 (for any items that would be due June 23-July 1)
- Final Circ / UBorrow / other services until June 29
- Final patron loads until July 2
Friday, June 22 at 6:00 p.m. EDT (5:00 p.m. CDT):
- Aleph shut down – begin using offline Circ
- Mango switched to COOP – no patron empowerment features (renewal, requests, etc.)
Friday, June 22 at 6:00 p.m. THROUGH sometime Thursday, June 28:
- Use Offline Circ – no other functionality
- NO self-check, hold or UBorrow request slips, courtesy / overdue / bills, patron loads, or bill / fine exports
- Patrons use Mango on COOP (no patron empowerment)
Sometime Thursday, June 28:
- Upload Offline Circ transactions and check error report
- Process accumulated returns
- Mango switched back, patron empowerment features available
- Verify print configurations in new Aleph Production client

Friday, June 29:
- UBorrow pullslips resume
- Hold pullslips resume
- Courtesy notices resume

Monday, July 2:
- Loans DUE (for any items that would have been due June 23 – July 1)
- Patron loads resume
- Remaining UBorrow jobs resume (expiration, archiving)
- Remaining Circ notices services resume (overdues, etc.)
- Course Reserves processing can begin
- Bill / fine export resumes
By Friday, July 6:
- All pre-merge functionality fully restored
